When using true Prescreen Credit file data, the mail is required to make a "firm-offer" of credit.  This means that the offer must contain specific wording that satisfies the credit bureau's guidelines.  Additionally, there are a couple of "fine print" paragraphs that spell out the permissable purpose for gaining access to this data.  For a complete, up-to-date, "firm-offer" guideline, call your BB Direct representative.

If not making a "firm-offer" of credit, BB Direct cannot provide credit score mailing list data.

The only two offers eligible for this data are new car purchase and mortgage refinance.  Call BB Direct to discuss other, "non firm-offer" list options.

When using pre-screened mailing list data, it's important to know how a person's score is developed.  Your credit score only changes, at most, once a month.  Why?  Because you typically pay, or not pay, your bills once a month.  Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union all collect a feed of financial payment data from a variety of sources.  They then tabulate your personal credit score using the same algorithym created by financial scoring company called Fair Isaac.  Should one credit bureau collect your mortgage payment faster than another, but collect your auto loan payment slower, your score may adjust to the time of month the financial data is collected and you ask to calculate your credit score.
