New Mover Database

A new mover list can be a great lead source for moving related services including packing services, moving companies, house cleaners, storage facilities and many others. Over 1.35 million consumers moved last year without the assistance of a moving, packing or storage company compared to the 1 million consumers that self-rented a truck and moved on their own and 650,000 consumers that hired a professional moving firm, making them a large, untapped source of potential business for moving related firms.

The new mover database includes many demographic selections that allow marketers to hone in on their ideal prospect including age, gender, marital status, presence of child and many more. Using what we already know about the average mover, we are able to build the ideal client profile using the targeting selections available on the database.

For example, moving data tells us that of those new movers that use the services of a moving company, 44% are individuals, 38% are corporations, 16% are military and 2% are other federal government moves.

Further analyzing available data, we are able to deduce that the average American mover is part of a couple. They are in the age range of 18 to 34 years old and have one to two children. We are also able to deduce that as American’s age their propensity to move decreases significantly.

Movers love the summer months, with over ½ of annual moves occurring between May and Labor Day.

Intrastate moves on an average cost an American new mover $4,300 while in-state moves average $2300.

On the new homeowner side of the new mover database, Millennials, ages 18-34, comprise of 42 percent of all home buyers today, while an additional 31 percent of buyers are members of Generation X (ages 35-49). Baby Boomers (ages 50-64) and the Silent Generation (ages 65-75) together make up the smallest share of home buyers (26 percent), with only 10 percent of buyers over age 64.

The new mover database does present three distinct opportunities for ideal mailing and marketing times; just after the current home is listed for sale/rent, one to six weeks prior to moving day and within six months after the move date.

Just after a home is listed for sale or rent, ideal offers for the new mover database can include cleaning services, home improvement services and retailers, mortgage and financial services, moving companies, painters and more.

During the time of one to six weeks prior to moving, the new mover database is primed for offers related to private utilities, packing/moving/storage offers, furniture/appliance retailers, insurance providers, home warranty providers, satellite/cable services and telecommunication services.

Within six months after moving, new movers are getting accustomed to their new home and neighborhood and perhaps town or city. In this time period, ideal offers for the new mover database include offers from healthcare providers, childcare providers, local banks, home improvement firms, local grocery/retail establishments, hair stylists/salons/barbers, landscapers, auto repair shops, veterinarians, dentists, fitness clubs and restaurants.

The new mover database is a great way to establish relationships with consumers that are new to your area and in need of services in a defined timeline.
